Former Senator Stuart Syvret is suffering from clinical depression. Because of his illness, Mr Syvret has been given more time to prepare his Royal Court appeal against convictions for contempt of court, data protection and motoring offences.
Mr Syvret believes he has been treated unfairly and that his trials have been politically motivated. The appeal was due to be heard this week.
The judge, Sir Christopher Pitchers, has agreed to put off the case. Mr Syvret, who is preparing the appeal without a lawyer, says he can not concentrate on his case because of the depression he is suffering.
No date has yet been fixed for the new hearing.
