Compensation terms for sex abuse victims

Haut de la Garenne is one of the institutions where abuse is alleged to have taken place
TERMS
of the compensation drawn up for victims of serious sexual and physical
abuse in States residential care are due to be announced today.
Every case will be judged on its individual circumstances, and the amount of compensation received will depend on the level of sexual, physical or emotional abuse suffered, and its long-term effects.
Chief Minister Ian Gorst and Advocate Beverley Lacey of Mourant Ozannes, the law firm representing the States, are today due to inform States Members and the media of the scheme, which has been drawn up after more than two years of negotiations with lawyers representing the victims.
